XIV Symbolist painter Jean Delville

A favorite artist of an era I am especially fond of, the Symbolism painting period, beginning in the later 1800s... Jean Delville.

He painted, drew, wrote poems, and stories, about mythic, every day, epic moments of the world's history.  He saw moments of common lives, wasted upon war, the heralding of the heroes, exalting the gods, and the cost of fame, shame, and infamy.  His works are beautiful but they also possess sorrow, and depth that allows the viewer, or reader in case of his poetry and stories, something discomforting even when the subject is meant to uplift. There is realism in his scenery, and honor, and in his symbolism for violence and war, it can look beautiful, but that symbolizes something fearsome, that we might uphold terrible things, because we value the wrong things in our existence.

I will be writing some poems to these, as all are in public domain, and they are stunning.
